LCSO K9 5K
The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) would like to invite everyone to their Annual LCSO K9 5K Run/Walk on Sat April 22, 2023, at 8:30 am. The course will be a rolling 5K, with a downhill finish and a really great chance to better your 5K times. Everyone from experienced runners to someone just trying to get up off the couch and walk a bit is invited to come out and support an awesome cause.
The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and charitable organization responsible for providing unfunded training, equipment, and community outreach activities and programs of the sheriff’s office. The LCSO Foundation also assists the sheriff’s office by offsetting the cost of education, training, equipment, and the medical needs of both active and retired K-9s.
This is a dog-friendly event! To be sure everyone has a great time, there are a few rules to keep everyone safe and happy:
- All well-behaved dogs are welcome and must be leashed with a maximum 6' lead.
- NO retractable leashes.
- Waste bags are the responsibility of pet owners. Please immediately clean up after your dog.
- Dogs are NOT permitted in the clubhouse.
- Dogs must be current on rabies vaccination.
- A water station will be located at the venue.
- Event organizers reserve the right to eject any aggressive or obviously ill dog.
- Pet owners assume full responsibility for their dogs. The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office/Foundation, Spring Creek, and all associated event organizers, cannot be held liable for any incidents or injury. By entering the event, attendees accept full responsibility for any risks to themselves and their dogs.
Those participating in the Run/Walk will be starting and finishing the race at the entrance to the beautiful Spring Creek Sports Center. The LCSO K9 5K is hosted by the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office and the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office Foundation to raise money for the support of community programs and the continued success of our K9 program. The beautiful venue is graciously provided by Spring Creek. Visit the LCSO K9 5K Run signup site to register for the race. We truly look forward to seeing you in Spring Creek.
If you are not a runner, or can't make the race, and would like to make a donation to support all of the LCSO K9 teams and also the Community Outreach programs being offered, click the link below, and when the page loads, select the donate button on the top right of the page.
We are extremely excited about the upcoming LCSO K95K Run/Walk and hoping for nice weather. Still not registered, there is still plenty of time, so get your friends and family to sign up, or come as a team.
We wanted to give everyone an update about race day and eliminate any confusion.
To prevent standing in line at a registration table, there will be assistants handing out race packets to those arriving on race day. Inside these race packets will be your race bibs, safety pins, and other goodies for each participant. If you did not preregister, there will be a station to register.
The race bib is to be attached to the chest of each runner, visible at all times. Attached to each race bib is a chip that records your starting and finishing time once you cross the mat on the start/finish line. The race will start at 8:30 am, but you will be able to start anytime between 8:30 and 9:00 am. There are going to be two official start times at 8:30 am and 8:45 am, but if you feel uncomfortable starting with others, you can start at any time in the window. Your starting time and finish time will be recorded when you cross the red mat at the start and then again at the finish line.
Here is the LCSO K95K Course map for anyone that wants to become familiar with the course.
If you have any questions about this event or you are a local business that would like to sponsor or donate an item or service for a giveaway or raffle, please contact LCSOFoundation@yahoo.com or Detective Chuck Love (clove@louisa.org)/ Deputy Bryan Hager (bhager@louisa.org). All proceeds will benefit the Louisa Sheriff's Office Foundation and our LCSO K-9 Units. As always we appreciate all the support LCSO and the LCSO K-9 Units receive from our community.
There is also a virtual race taking place from April 1st - April 31, 2023, that you can participate in without even coming to an actual location. You will be able to run your race at any location, or even on your treadmill, after printing out your virtual bib and taking a picture of yourself. Just go to the registration page and pick the virtual LCSO K95K, measure out your run and print out your bib and go run. You can even run on your treadmill. Take a picture of yourself with your bib on and register your time at https://runsignup.com/Race/VA/ZionCrossroads/LCSOK95K.
Thanks for helping support the LCSO K9 Teams and for participating in our event.
