Human Services Advisory Board

Purpose

This is an advisory board that monitors the formulation and implementation of social welfare programs in the county and advises the director on program and policy matters. Members serve as advocates for the Department of Human Services with the community, the Board of County Supervisors, and the State, seeking information regarding department services and the community, and as liaisons between the community and the Board of County Supervisors. The board also sets policy regarding the broad focus for the Department of Human Services.

Louisa County Bylaws: Article II, Section I: (1)The membership of the Advisory Board shall consist of five (5) and a maximum of seven (7) members appointed by the Board of Supervisors. (2) Members shall serve four (4) year terms and may serve no more than two (2) consecutive terms (3)The County Administrator shall be an ex officio member, without vote, of the Advisory Board. Article IV, Section I: The elected officers of the Advisory Board shall be a Chair and a Vice Chair. Officers shall be limited to two (2) consecutive terms. Terms of office shall be one (1) year.

Meetings

The Members normally meet on the fourth Tuesday of every even numbered month at 11:00 a.m..

Appointments

The Board shall consist of a minimum of five (5) and a maximum of seven (7) voting members appointed by the Board of Supervisors.

Residents of Louisa County. Members shall have interest in all matters pertaining to the social welfare of the citizens of the County and the ability to interact with the community in order to obtain its input.

Serves a four (4) year term and no more than two (2) consecutive terms.
