1. How does Project Lifesaver work?

Project Lifesaver participants are required to wear a personalized transmitter on their wrist or ankle which emits a tracking signal 24 hours a day. Once the sheriff's office is notified that a participant has gone missing, specially trained officers can track this signal using a mobile locator tracking system.

2. What does it Cost?

The personalized transmitter and related equipment needed by the participant costs $350. There is also a maintenance fee of $10 each time a battery and band needs to be changed. Most transmitters require this change every 30 to 60 days. There is a waiting list for individuals that cannot afford the initial cost of the equipment. These individuals will be accepted into the program on a first come-first serve basis as funding becomes available.
